Jordan Turpin is known for escaping her abusive home in Perris, California, in 2018, and subsequently helping to rescue her twelve siblings. Her parents, David and Louise Turpin, subjected the children to horrific abuse, including malnutrition, physical abuse, neglect, and captivity.
At the time of the escape, Jordan was 17 years old. She planned her escape for two years and ultimately managed to sneak out of the house and call 911 using a deactivated cell phone. Her bravery led to the discovery of the appalling conditions in which she and her siblings were living.
Following the rescue, Jordan and her siblings were placed under the care of Riverside County social services. They faced significant challenges in adjusting to life outside of captivity, including a lack of basic knowledge and life skills.
Jordan has since become an advocate for other survivors of abuse and has shared her story publicly to raise awareness about child abuse and the importance of intervention. She has been praised for her courage and resilience in the face of unimaginable trauma. She's expressed a desire to become a nurse.
